Our exciting nature club for kids from around 6 to 14 years old, with monthly meetings in the Bourne area often at Deeping Lakes nature reserve.

Sunday 8 January, 2.00 - 3.30pm: Animal tracks and signs
Deeping Lakes nature reserve
We will be going on a winter walk to see if we can find any animal tracks and making plaster casts if we do.
Meet in the main car park.

Sunday 12 February, 2.00 - 3.30pm: Practical conservation work
Deeping Lakes nature reserveWe will be working in the woodland near to the lake edge, coppicing and pollarding small trees.
Meet in the main car park.

Sunday 12 March, 2.00 - 3.30pm: Small mammal survey
Deeping Lakes nature reserve
Using special traps we will see if we can catch and take a close look at mice and voles before we release them. We will also see if we can find signs of other animals, like foxes, deer or otters!
DO NOT meet in the main car park. We will be over by the boathouse, so meet in Manor Roofing’s car park, just south of the level crossing.

Sunday 9 April, 2pm - 4pm: Bird ringing demonstration
Bourne WoodsWe will be watching Alan Ball as he carries out one of this bird ringing session. He will show us how it is done and we will get a really close up look at the birds he catches and releases.
Meet at the Beech Avenue entrance to Bourne Woods. The entrance is close to the Forest Avenue junction. 

Sunday 14 May, 2pm - 4pm: They call it dirt!
Dole Wood nature reserve
We will be taking a good look at soil: what it is, what it is made of, and what it lives in?
Meet by the roadside/entrance to the wood, along Obthorpe Lane, Thurlby.

Sunday 11 June, 2pm - 4pm: Butterflies and wildflowers
Stanton's Pit nature reserveWe did some practical work here last winter, so what difference has it made? There's plenty of wildlife to see and perhaps some orchids.
Meet in the car park, off the Witham on the Hill to Little Bytham Road.

Sunday 9 July, 2pm - 4pm: More butterflies and wildflowers
Willow Tree Fen nature reserveWe will be going on a wander around the reserve and seeing just what there is to see. 
Meet up by the buildings and be prepared for a bit of a trek! It is quite a large nature reserve.

Sunday 13 August: Pond dipping and looking for ladybirds
Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve 2.00 - 4.00pmWe will be looking to see what watery critters we can find, then seeing if we can find and identify some ladybirds.
Meet in the main car park.

Sunday 10 September: Looking at Leaves!
Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve 2.00 - 4.00pmWe will be taking a good look at leaves, to see if we can identify them. Then have some fun creating art from leaves.
Meet in the main car park.

Sunday 8 October: Practical Conservation Work
Dole Wood Nature Reserve 2.00 - 3.30pmWe will be helping to create the woodland of the future by clearing around the new trees.
Meet by the roadside/entrance to the wood, along Obthorpe Lane, Thurlby.

Sunday 12 November: Practical Conservation Work
Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve 2.00 - 3.30pmWe did some practical work here last winter, so what difference has it made? We will be doing some scrub bashing to continue the good work.
