Join guest speaker Anna Antonova as she discusses conservation conflicts on the Bulgarian Black Sea and Yorkshire North Sea Shores.

What does the poetic have to do with the political? In this talk, we will visit different conservation conflicts on two shores – the Bulgarian Black Sea and our very own Yorkshire North Sea shore – exploring how different ideas about wild space, environment, and society interact with our ways of contesting and governing the coast. In a rapidly changing Europe, meaning, identity, and yes, poetry, play a much larger role in the politics of conservation than we might think.
