28 April 2017 - 9:30am - 1:30pm
Join Paul Rose of Survival School for a day of bushcraft and wilderness survival for adults.
Our ancestors have employed traditional survival techniques for thousands of years. Reconnect with the land and learn how you could survive and thrive in the wilds of Gloucestershire!
In this jam-packed day of getting back to basics, Survival School's expert Paul Rose will teach you how to:
- Carve wood and make useful tools - learning safe cutting techniques and take home your work at the end of the day.
- Watch a fire by friction demonstration then have a go at fire lighting yourself using modern & primitive techniques and natural tinders. Learn how to prepare for successful fire making, use fire safely and what to do once you've put out your fire.
- Go on a forage walk - learn really important hints and tips about foraging, how to use what you've found and wildlife identification, vital for surviving in the wild.
Please bring a packed lunch along with you or hot and cold meals are available to buy from the Crickley Hill cafe.
More about your tutor
Paul became interested in primitive living and adventure during extensive travels around South East Asia - trekking with local guides, exploiting the natural resources of the jungle and studying the techniques they employed to live successfully in remote areas.
He has gone on to explore many more varied terrains; experienced first-hand the value in working as a team to survive; how to prepare and research areas before venturing out into the wilderness and studied the psychological effects of prolonged periods of time in extreme conditions.
Paul is qualified to teach Bushcraft and Wilderness Skills as part of his role with Survival School and GWT.
