Event details

3 May 2017 - 10:00am - 4:00pm

We need your help to survey the number of bees buzzing around our reserves! We're offering free ID training & survey techniques to help you help us identify the bees you see.

Would you like to become a Wildlife Guardian and help us survey the UK's declining bee population?

As part of the DerwentWISE Wildlife Guardians programme of activities we are hosting a bee ID training workshop to help you. With 24 bumblebee species and almost 250 species of solitary bee, who said spotting bees would be simple!

At this event we will help you identify different bee species and teach you all what you need to know about bee survey techniques.

Although the training is free, attendees will be expected to make a minimum comitment of 1 day per month between April and October 2017

We would like Wildlife Guardians to carry out bee surveys at selected sites in the lower Derwent Valley as part of the survey programme for DWT and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust.

Please bring a packed lunch. Hot drinks will be provided.

The event will be held at Derbyshire Wildlife Trust Headquarters, Sandy Hill,
