Event details

13 October 2017 - 7:30pm - 9:30pm

A talk by Ray Canham & Graeme McLaren, from Gloucester Bat Group, about the Greater & Lesser Horseshoe bats of Woodchester Mansion, near Stroud.

The bats arrive at Woodchester Mansion during April and give birth around the beginning of July. By the end of September all of the bats have left the roosts. The talk will describe the facilities that are provided for the bats, including CCTV system, which allows visitors to watch live pictures of the bats and their roosts. The Greater Horseshoe bats are the subject of what is believed to be the longest study by a single person of any mammal, and Ray and Graeme will tell us of the research which has been undertaken by Dr. Roger Ransome since 1959.

The Baptist Church entrance is set back off the High Street, opposite the Coventry Building Society and close to the Queens Charlton turn off. Free parking in Ashton Way car park.

Sale of bird food, seasonal items, second hand books and greetings cards.

Refreshments available during the break (donation requested for AWT).
