Event details

7 December 2017 - 9:30am - 3:00pm

Warton Crag Butterflies need your help in maintain the landscape through some coppicing activities. Join us for a practical conservation volunteering day.

Warton Crag Nature Reserve is one of our nationally important areas of limestone habitat including grassland, woodland and limestone pavement, which supports some of Britain's rarest butterflies, including Peal Bordered Fritillary and High Brown Fritillary, as well as an array of other rare invertebrates and plants.

We need your help with maintaing the landscape so that it's appropriate for butterflies to thrive in.

The conservation work parties over the next few months will involve coppicing work, to ensure the woodlands are kept open for the benefits of the species on the site.

If you're wanting to gain some practical skills in conservation, want to meet like minded people or simply want to spend some time outside, helping to protect your local wildlife. Then please come along.
